I have eaten and reviewed over 1,200 different cheesesteaks. I score them using my 5 category 100 point scoring system. The 5 categories are; 1. Roll, 2. Meat, 3. Cheese, 4. Extras and 5. Overall. I believe price and amenities add or distract from the overall cheesesteak eating experience. I keep track of the cheesesteaks scores and notes on a 36 column spreadsheet. Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure at Hooters, 194 S DuPont Hwy, New Castle, DE. $13.99 (no fries). 85/100.
Different Cheesesteak #1252. Special drinks and cheesesteak with Amigo Dan. We liked our cheesesteak. Not just saying that because the bartender and waitress were attractive. You can see in pictures that the cheesesteak comes with big pieces of onions, peppers, and mushrooms. If you don’t like these things, you will not like this cheesesteak. It comes with provolone cheese. I think the hardiness of the provolone is a nice balance for the veggies. The meat was surprisingly good. The roll was below average. We paid the $1.99 for french fries. I wish the bartender had pretended to care when I told her my draft tasted like soapy water.
How do I like my cheesesteak?
1. Roll. I want the roll to be M&M’esque. Crispy crust and light airy bread inside. I don’t want to bite my cheesesteak and everything shoots out the back.Â
2. Meat. I want a slightly thicker slice so I can taste the meat. Chopped and tender enough so I don’t have to wrestle with it.
3. Cheese. Melted and touching everything. Touching not coating.Â
4. Extras. Fried onions have to add flavor but not overpower anything. A good mushroom adds good flavor to good steak.Â
5. Overall. I like parking, sitting inside, bathroom and adult beverages.
Not all cheesesteaks are created equal!!
